The official KTEL route connects Velika with Larissa via Agiokampos, providing public-transport access between the coastal area and the city. Velika is served by a KTEL Larissa intercity route via Agiokampos, connecting it with Larissa. Services are seasonal, so check the operator’s official announcement before travelling.

Velika beach provides an access path, two wheeled beach loungers, an accessible toilet, changing rooms, an amphibious wheelchair and a shower. 112 operates free of charge 24/7, can be called without a SIM or from a locked phone, and accepts SMS/MMS. Operators answer in Greek, English and French.

Velika forms part of the continuous Agiokampos–Sotiritsa–Velika coastal beach zone, which extends for more than 10 kilometres and offers extensive space for seaside recreation. Velika Beach combines sandy and pebbly sections with organised facilities, cafés, beach bars and restaurants.

Excavations at Velika revealed a sixth-century AD building complex with three wings around a courtyard, including an olive-press installation and storage areas. Archaeological research revealed four rectangular towers and two gates, while parts of the fortification survive 1–3 metres high.
